Easter 2008 was full of fun this year for the Stewart family!! The children were thrilled to attend 5 easter egg hunts, 2 carnivals, and a barbeque. We are all now exhausted, but not Caroline. She seems to have a birthday party to go to every week. We started out the festivities at the George Bush Library Easter Egg hunt and carnival. It is a big event full of carnival games, White House traditional Easter games, and an enormous egg hunt. On the fields by the library are around 50 yard squares for each age group. The kids line up all around and wait for the fire truck to blow its horn and then.....swoosh, the fields get devoured. It can get a little fierce, mostly with the parents, but there are always more eggs given out by the poliemen walking around. Romney III was a little overwhelmed by the activity, but once he saw that their were prizes and candy in the eggs he went for it. Caroline was more seasoned and jumped right in with her Dad. Unfortunately, Collin just laid there like a slug "it was his only defense" -Christmas story quote. After, we played the endless games for prizes, saw fire trucks and police cars, and even saw the Easter Bunny-we just waived. The kids enjoyed their other egg hunts, Romney III becoming progressively more skillful with each hunt. We colored eggs again this year-Caroline chose the Catholic coloring kit so we had lots of crosses on our eggs. The night before Easter, the kids set out their baskets on the back porch along with some carrots. The next morning they were thrilled to see the bunny had left them some candy (emphasis on some due to the all the egg hunts) and some little games. ROmney II spoke in his ward on Easter Sunday and we joined our good friends the Trefethens for a barbeque and of course....another egg hunt! Next year I look forward to bringing a little more of the "reason for the season" into the holiday.
