Growing in our garden

We have been working hard in our yard- and still have more to do!  We have just about an acre of grass and garden and landscape.  It has been fun to see what has come up from the old "grandpa's garden" as well as some things we have planted.  My favorites have been the hydrangeas, peonies, and our Lucifer plant fire flowers.  We are also beginning to gather in our harvest from our vegetable garden-very exciting for all of us.  I love to work out in our yard and have really enjoyed gardening-can't wait to plant some more for next year.

Peonies- we had some dark pink, white, and this light pink.

Poppies-this deep red is a favorite but we also had the more traditional orange and yellow.

The kids planted sun flower seeds this year and boy did they grow and grow.  The stalks are now taller than Romney and the flowers are huge.  We are keeping some to go to seed to see what that is like.

Two toned Iris

We have two old barrels that we are using for our herb garden.  This one has mint, parsley, and thyme.

Lilacs- in the spring the air smells sweet from our lilacs in the yard.

Another favorite of mine by our front door-corn flowers.

We are proud of our zucchinnis this year!  We also have a variety of peppers and onions.  Our carrots turned out pretty poor and we are waiting on the watermelon.
